DLG is hoping to gain certification to ISO4001 and EMAS, and a number of processes in place to offset the possible environmental impact of any of its operations.
DLG has a Main Board Member tasked with environmental responsibility, resource conservation, waste minimisation and pollution prevention.
- DLG has an environmental management system.
- DLG carries out regular reviews of its environmental impacts and sets objectives and targets to reduce these impacts.
- DLG has a full environmental internal audit process
- DLG uses raw materials from sustainable / renewable sources whenever possible
Key areas addressed by DLG include:
- Reduction of energy consumption (all IT equipment is switched off during non-working hours)
- Lights are automatically shut-off when a room is empty or unused
- Reduction in paper usage through the use wherever possible of online portals for internal and external report generation including newsletters
- Mandatory recycling of all waste paper
- Mandatory recycling of printer cartridges
- Mandatory recycling of aluminium cans
- Old IT equipment is either recycled or forwarded to third world countries
- Shared transport to client site visits - with multi site visits for multiple team members in any one day
